You might be surprised by how much quotes from different companies vary… or you might find they’re very similar. Either way, don’t choose the cheapest for the sake of it; make sure to research the company, find examples of their work, read reviews, and think about the quality to price ratio.

Work with local, recommended companies

Having the right team in place to execute and manage your renovation project is key. From the architect who creates the drawings to the construction team that brings them to life, working with people you trust to do a good job saves time and stress, as well as money.

Local project managers, construction companies, interior designers, and more might also have connections to preferred suppliers who offer discounts or the best value for money.

Think about when to carry out your renovation

If you’re remodelling a house you currently live in, consider when the best time for the renovation might be. If you need to move out, even for a few nights, it will be more expensive to find somewhere else to stay in peak season.

There are also work commitments to think about; renovating when you’re busy in other areas of your life can be stressful and mean you don’t stay as on top of everything as you’d like. Alternatively, consider hiring an experienced project manager to oversee the work for you.

It might be that the most costly spaces aren’t the best areas to save money on.
